Assistant Principal Salwierak

Kristen Salwierak, Assistant Principal

Assistant Principal Kristen SalwierakMrs. Salwierak, known to students and staff as Mrs. Sal or Sal, has been with District 146 for 14 years. She has taught science at CMS for 10 years, and has taught all grades 6-8. Mrs. Salwierak has a Master's Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Leadership. She became the assistant principal in 2019.
Here is what Mrs. Salwierak has to say…

about her job:
My favorite part of the job is our students! I absolutely love welcoming them into the building every morning, connecting with them in classes, and being there to support them in their middle school experience. I am here for them!

about her goals:
I continually am looking for ways to promote a welcoming community and experience for our students and families. I also think it is vital to teach positive self habits and social skills to our students.

I am head of the social emotional curriculum and resources at CMS. I work closely with our school social workers to support our students that might be experiencing challenges. Identifying supports to help our students is a large portion of my role here at CMS.

about herself:
My husband is my rock! We have been married for 11 years and have our twins! Having twins is the best thing that has ever happened to me. My son and daughter are the “light” in my life and inspire me everyday.

We love traveling! (Prior to COVID of course.) Some continents we have had the opportunity to travel to include Europe, Africa, and Asia. One day we hope to see the rest!

My family, on regular days, loves spending time outdoors, whether it is taking walks, playing sports, or just having fun in the sun! I also love reading and attending interesting conferences to further my own learning.

I am an animal lover! I have volunteered at animal shelters and have a passion for helping animals. In our own home, we have our family dog that keeps us busy. She is a part of our family and makes us smile everyday. We also have fish and a Bearded Dragon. She was given to me from a previous student that I taught at CMS!

Our motto is every moment counts. We appreciate every day we have and don’t take any moment for granted. One of my favorite quotes is “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.”- Tony Robbins.
